Arthur Conan Doyle (1859–1930) was a British author and physician who created Sherlock Holmes, the world's most famous fictional detective. The Holmes stories, narrated by Dr. Watson, pioneered the modern detective fiction genre and have been adapted countless times for stage, film, and television. Beyond Holmes, Conan Doyle also wrote science fiction, historical novels, and non-fiction.
