American, 1876–1916
Jack London (1876–1916) was an American novelist and journalist best known for The Call of the Wild and White Fang, powerful tales of survival set in the Yukon during the Klondike Gold Rush. London was one of the first American authors to achieve worldwide celebrity and massive commercial success, drawing on his own experiences as a sailor, gold prospector, and war correspondent to fuel his rugged, naturalistic fiction.
