L. Frank Baum (1856–1919) was an American author best known for creating the Land of Oz. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, published in 1900, became a beloved classic and inspired the iconic 1939 film. Baum wrote thirteen sequels set in Oz, building an elaborate fantasy world that has captivated generations of readers and became a cornerstone of American children's literature.
