British, 1865–1936
Rudyard Kipling (1865–1936) was a British author and poet born in Bombay, India. He became the youngest-ever Nobel laureate in Literature in 1907, honored for his vivid storytelling and remarkable powers of observation. His works include The Jungle Book, Kim, Just So Stories, and the poem If—, which remains one of the most popular poems in English. Kipling's stories draw richly on his childhood in India and his travels across the British Empire.
